Why Feeling Good Matters: How Look Good Feel Better Helped Me Reclaim My Confidence – When you’re going through cancer treatment, your whole world changes — physically, emotionally, mentally. It’s not just the illness itself, or the endless appointments, or even the fatigue. It’s how it chips away at your sense of self.
The Charity
For many, losing your hair, eyebrows, and lashes is a common experience. Your skin changes. You look in the mirror and you don’t recognise the person staring back at you. And while it might sound superficial to some, when you don’t feel like you, it can be one more blow in an already brutal fight.
That’s where Look Good Feel Better comes in.
This amazing UK charity runs free confidence-boosting workshops for people like me — those undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. These sessions are hosted by beauty professionals who give practical advice on skincare and make-up techniques tailored to the side effects of cancer treatment. They cover everything from drawing on natural-looking eyebrows to caring for sensitive, post-treatment skin.
But honestly, what they offer goes so much deeper than makeup.
I had my workshop only last week. I found a warm, welcoming space where I could laugh, connect with others in the same boat, and feel supported by people who genuinely understood. For the first time in months, I didn’t feel like just a patient — I felt like me again.
And to top it all off, everyone left with a goodie bag filled with donated skincare and make-up products — everything from lipsticks and foundations to eyebrow pencils and moisturisers. These aren’t just free samples. They’re tiny lifelines that help someone feel human again.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.

If you know someone who works at, or has a contact in, a cosmetics or skincare company — whether big or small — please reach out to them. Tell them about Look Good Feel Better. Let them know how much their product donations can mean to someone who’s lost not only their health, but their confidence too.
Every lipstick, brow pencil, moisturiser. It all counts.
And if you’re part of a beauty brand yourself, please consider making a donation or partnership. You won’t just be giving make-up — you’ll be helping someone smile again, feel seen again, and feel a little more like themselves during the hardest chapter of their life.
