Inaccessible product designs, like hard-to-use deodorant bottles and product packaging, exclude disabled individuals from everyday tasks. Inclusive design is vital to ensure products are accessible and user-friendly for everyone, promoting equal access and independence.
Cruise holidays are supposed to be luxury holidays. I was stuck on a ship rife with Norovirus and unable to wash my hands in the disabled toilets due to bad design. To make matters worse, I came home with Covid!
I stayed at the Hilton in Brighton for a weekend event, and it was probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at for wheelchair accessibility! I would not recommend staying at this hotel as a full-time wheelchair user.
So many disabled people are unaware of what facilities and services are available to them, like the Radar key or Disabled person rail card. I share these and more with you now. As I learn more, I will add them.
The Spread Eagle Inn, my weekend stay. Not a great night’s sleep, and when I forgot to bring home my own shaped pillow, the hotel refused to post it to me even though I offered to pay for postage!
Claiming you’re accessible doesn’t make it so. Do you have a disabled toilet? Ramps? Braille menus? Lowered counter? No to any of these and much more? Then you ARE NOT accessible. STOP claiming you are!!
